IKKAKU MADARAME
斑目 一角
enemy familiar friend
my beginning and my end
knowing truth, whispering lies
and it hurts again
are you even worth my time?
name: Ikkaku Madarame
aka
* Ikkaku (keep it like that)
* Baldy (yeah, let's see how far you'll get if you call me that!)
* Cue ball (I will seriously kill you)
* Madarame (...)
species: Shinigami/Soul Reaper
gender: Male
birth date: November 9
age: Unknown
what i fear and what i try
the words i say and what i hide
all the pain, i want it to end
but i want it again
c'mon c'mon!
height: 6'0''
weight: 168 lbs
distinguishing features: bald head, usually has this insane grin
The first thing one will notice about Ikkaku is his bald head, which is usually the butt of many jokes when it comes to Ikkaku. Despite constantly claiming that his head is simply "shaven", this is very hard to believe due to how protective he truly is about his baldness. Ikkaku wears the generic Shinigami robes of Soul Society, without the tabi for his sandals. He has a red marking coming from each corner of his eyes. He is almost always seen with a long, broad grin on his face. Underneath the robes, Ikkaku is known to be quite athletic-- muscular if you will.
and it finds me

and it's raging
the fight inside is breaking me again
hey, don't mess with my mojo!

overall
Ikkaku is a stereotypical 11th Division member.
He is a huge fan of fighting, such as being seen carrying even a fake sword if he were not allowed to hold his real one. However, this is backed up by his large sense of loyalty and responsibility. Ikkaku is very loyal to his captain and is more than just willing to die under his command.
Ikkaku shares many similaries with his captain, Zaraki. This is a reason as to why they seem to have great respect for one another. With this being said, Ikkaku considers fighting to be something "fun". As well, he also wants to get as much fun as he can out of an opponent, so he will purposely hold back just to get that rush. He will even go as far as to restrict his use of his own bankai.
Madarame is incredibly sadistic-- almost always smiling when in fight with a challenging opponent. Like all other members of his division, he thinks one-on-one battles are the only honorable sort and not even the risk of death is a fair reason to ignore this fact. With this being said, Ikkaku, like many others of his division, believe that a winner is only a true winner when the other opponent dies. Thanks to his first fight with Zaraki, he thinks that surviving in a battle is a way of saying good luck-- that is, to say, when he is the loser of the battle.
It is also interesting to note that Ikkaku is ambidextrous.
it's still the same, pursuing pain
isn't worth the light i've gained
we both know how this will end
but i do it again
because i'm feeling very lucky right now!
Hozukimaru
* ointment: The only thing that seems to be a tad bit abnormal is that Ikkaku hides a small vial of healing ointment in the base of his zanpakuto's hilt.
* secondary weapon: The sealed form is enabled to be used as a normal weapon while Ikkaku is skilled to use the sheath as a secondary weapon in his other hand.
* extend: The command for Hozukimaru's shikai release.
* split apart: Once Ikkaku uses the command, "Split apart.", his weapon is separated into its true form. Its true form is revealed to be a three sectioned staff in which the sections can independently separate and reconnect again at will. The chains in his staff can also extend a fair length which allows Ikkaku to swing it like a flail.
* special ability: Like his shikai, his bankai is very unusual. His bankai offers an increase in power, but that seems to be all it has to offer Ikkaku. At first, it releases very little reiatsu which increases in strength at the fight drags along. If he forces it to awaken suddenly, it becomes difficult to cut the enemy and not getting cut. As the fight drags on, which Ikkaku luckily likes to do, the bankai's strength gets gradually more powerful. The dragon crest located on it will slowly fill with blood red dye as his own spiritual pressure grows. Ikkaku has commented that his zanpakuto is very lazy in battle and needs to be woken up via causing or receiving injury. When the crest is filled up completely, the bankai is at its full power.
and it finds me
the fight inside is coursing through my veins
and it's raging
the fight inside is hurting me again
maybe i was wrong...
other abilities
* master swordsmanship specialist: Even though Ikkaku is the 3rd seated officer, his rank does not describe his power. His fighting abilities are near that of a captain level. To a few others, he is referred to as the second strongest man in the 11th Division. His fighting style is described, by others, as rough and powerful with complicated moves that allow him to lunge from the left with his sword and defend with his sheathe from the right. He can quickly switch between the two, though. Ikkaku typically uses misdirection in his attacks, allowing for holes in his defense to be seen. This does not seem as a bad thing, though because he can make it up with surprise attacks.
-* naginatajutsu master: While in shikai form, his zanpakuto is a naginata-type weapon. He uses it just about perfectly against other type of swords.
-* bojustu master: While in shikai form, his weapon can split apart into a three-sectioned staff and back into its original form. When using the split form, he is shown to be highly skilled in the use of bo techniques.
* flash steps expert: He has been seen using Flash Steps, but this is only used when he needs to keep up with stronger opponents.
* high spiritual power: Ikkaku has a high level of spiritual power that matches the level of a Gotei 13 lieutenant.
* enhanced strength: A couple of his enemies have commented about the strength of Ikkaku's attacks.
* enhanced endurance: Frequently shown, Ikkaku has an incredibly high endurance status.
* enhanced durability: Ikkaku, despite taking on tons of wounds, can keep a fight going.
* expert hand-to-hand combatant: Even without his zanpakuto, Ikkaku can fight back. Back then, some of his opponents had no swords so Ikkaku had to fight with his hands against them.
it's nothing
it's everything
it's nothing
it's everything
...maybe you are my match.
history
Ikkaku came from the streets of Rukongai where, at some point, he met Yumichika. He then became friends with the other man, and both would travel from village to village to look for some opponents to fight Ikkaku.
As time passed, they soon encountered Kenpachi and Yachiru. He is warned by the pink haired girl that messing with Kenpachi (while he is a good mood) is a bad idea. Being the man he is, Ikkaku doesn't take the warning seriously and goes off to face Kenpachi Zaraki. When he does meet the other man, he is alarmed quicky by the other's reiatsu but continues on fore he was happy to have an actual challenge. Seeing that the other man's attacks had enough force to crater the ground, he is left to simply defend against the other's countless strikes. As the fight progresses on, Ikkaku heard Zaraki comment about the fight being fun and decides to finish Ikkaku off with one hit. This results in Ikkaku's rather fast lost. As he walks off, Ikkaku becomes frustrated at such a behavior only for the other to tell him he has no interest with weaklings. Thinking that he is messing with him, Ikkaku demands that he kill him. He is then grabbed and is told that if he loves to fight so much, why is he screaming for death. He is explained to a philosophy by Kenpachi. When he is finished, he leaves Ikkaku. Ikkaku asks his name and is told.
After being healed of his wounds, he searches for Zaraki everywhere to have a rematch with the man. He never could find him, though.
Yumichika, one day, comes to him with some news. It was heard that the very man he was looking for had beaten the captain of the 11th Division in a single blow, making him the new captain. Ikkaku is surprised by this and sets out to find him.
Ikkaku and Yumichika find Kenpachi on his first day of addressing his division. The two seemed to have become Shinigami and joined the division. Later on, they are seen present at the battle of the division versus a hollow. Ikkaku attempts to fight it to stop it but is stopped by his captain, who easily kills it. This leads to more hollows appearing, where the duo soon join in on the fight.
Sometime later on, Ikkaku is greeted by Renji Abarai (who is a transfer from the 5th). He asks that Ikkaku train him. He agrees upon it and the two soon battle. The two continue to train into the evening, going as far as using their Shikai against one another. When the training is finished, Ikkaku informs Renji he'll have to learn anything else he wants to know on his own.
