Was is so crazy of him to believe everything would settle down after he defeated Aizen? Hd he been unreasonable to think that? After countless battles, just as many close calls, and one fight that actually got a huge hole blasted through him, was it so much for him to ask that he get some rest? He was a Soul Reaper, sure, but his stamina wasn't quite as limited as his spirit energy. Once the adrenaline had finally stopped pumping, the fatigue was almost crippling in its force. Indeed, for the past few days he'd been sleeping so much Yuzu was getting worried about him.
"Ichigo, it's almost time for lunch and you're still in bed! Are you okay?"
"Leave 'im alone, Yuzu. He's fine, just tired...RIGHT, ICHIGO?"
The holler from his black-haired little sister woke him up with a start, sitting up and head snapping in the direction of the door. "Karin, what?!" His tone was a mixture of irritation and grogginess. Just how many times had he told those girls to leave him alone and let him sleep? He understood that they were worried, but surely they had enough sense to know constantly waking him up wasn't going to help anyone. "I'm fine, for the thousandth time! Now let me-" The door cracked open, the twins peeking through the crack. Yuzu looked about ready to cry.
"You never sleep this much, Ichigo! You've hardly eaten anything either. Are you sure you're not sick?"
"Yuzu, I'm-" The girl darted over to him and slapped her hand against his forehead. "What, my word isn't enough?" She shook her head and gave him a stern glare. After deciding Ichigo's temperature was normal she put her hand down and sat on the edge of the bed.
"Can you blame me for worrying? You've always had so much energy, and now you're sleeping all day. I hardly see you anymore."
"Maybe you'd feel better if you went for a jog or something, Ichigo. We get that you're tired, but your body isn't accustomed to this much rest."
"That's a great idea, Karin! Ichigo, get up! Get dressed! Go outside!"
"Hey, that's my arm you're tugging! Alright, alright, I'll get up!"
So there he was. Outside, in his clothes, jogging to keep his little sisters off his back. To be honest, once he'd gotten going it felt pretty good. It felt more natural than being curled up under the covers, at least. He chuckled to himself as he considered what Karin had said. Am I really so used to running on fumes that my body doesn't know how to react to inactivity? He guessed it made sense. He certainly hadn't gotten a lot of sleep since this whole adventure had started, and he had never been big on laziness before then. The young man had always been on the go, so he guessed it wasn't such a crazy thing that rest ironically made him more tired.
He didn't stop until he'd been running for almost two hours. At that point, he flopped down in the grass by the river and wiped the sweat off his forehead. His hair, which he hadn't bothered cutting since his fight with Aizen, stuck to his sweaty face and the back of his neck. His tank top was so wet at this point wearing it was uncomfortable so he opted to pull it off and use it as a pillow. As his breath steadied, he slipped into a light sleep.
